Side by Side is a video series on local multiplayer games. This is third episode of the eighth series.

Joel Goodwin of Electron Dance and Gregg Burnell of Tap-Repeatedly have a thumping good time in Dojo Masters (Pixeled Vision, 2024) which allows two players to pit fighters of different martial arts against each other. Hmm, is boxing a martial art? This question is an exercise for the reader. Watch Gregg whack Joel in the face with a shinai and Joel punch Gregg in the face. It’s all healthy stimulation as long as someone gets it in the face.

  1. Uh, no, it is not? The first thing I thought when I saw it was the ambitious “Spy Vs Spy”. And that’s a game I wanted to love but it was just a little bit too clunky on my Atari to be genuine fun. Maybe this should go on the list for Series 9…
