They found it in the gloom of a forgotten loft, pressed into the dirty blanket of foam glass insulation. In his final years, the old man had scribbled down every strange idea, every vivid dream, desperate to save these treasures of the mind. Twenty years after his passing, they uncovered the Crashbook.

A new page turns, revealing twenty-eight more games I have not played.

620/ I SHALL NAME THE DEAD

The Nameless Dead cannot be buried, their remains pile up in a mass of indignity. You have crawled from the gutter to name them. Explore the cemetery and uncover their names before the Worm eats your insides.

Crash notes: Striking graphics with an upfront commitment to “no jumpscares”.

Windows, Mac, Linux | Steam Link | Unreleased

621/ Aerial_Knight’s MrFreezy

Play as a woman who’s an axe-wielding serial killer in this light-hearted puzzle game about decapitating men, uncover the disturbing story behind New Detroit’s infamous serial killer, Mr. Freezy.

Crash notes: Female serial killer puzzle game – a saturated genre, no doubt.

Windows | Steam Link | Just released

622/ MÖRK BORG Heresy Supreme

All Lost Souls Update: final class, weapon variants, crits and fumbles. A desperate attempt to endure the coming Apocalypse in a cursed, unjust dark fantasy world, made only to appease a vain god. Combat is brutal, choices are lethal, and survival is a temporary insult to fate. A flail to the face.

Crash notes: It’s got a dishy look, that’s why it’s here. I know nothing about the source TTRPG MÖRK BORG although it has a sick web page.

Windows | Steam Link | EA

623/ Blood Dungeon

From the creators of Nidhogg, murder hordes of monsters in this 2D platforming autoshooter with a killer soundtrack. Collect Blood, gold, and bones to increase your powers. Can you survive the Blood Dungeon?

Crash notes: A new Messhof title – I’m pretty sure my addled fingers would be useless against this.

Windows, Mac | Steam Link | Just released

624/ Tempus Vitae

You are Alex, a time-displaced astronaut unraveling the space station Theia doomed in both the war-torn 2185 and the post-apocalyptic 2385 to find your lost brother. Master an arsenal of time travel abilities and weapons in this sci-fi metroidvania FPS: Tempus Vitae.

Crash notes: Metroidvania FPS with a clean, bright style. Don’t know how involved the time travel aspect will be – utility mechanic vs cutscene selector.

Windows | Steam Link | Unreleased

625/ PUTRID/SHARP

Slice your way through the stages of rot and search for someone lost in a world that is waiting to end.

Crash notes: What is this? Well, I do not know. Oppressive mood in the trailer.

Windows | Steam Link | Unreleased

626/ Alruna: End of History

Alruna; now in wide-screen! A different kind of Metroidvania, a tour-de-force of game design, with world-class temples and dungeons. Dead men yearn for Heaven, but Elysium remains out of their grasp.

Crash notes: Alruna back again after Alruna and the Necro-Industrialists previously mentioned on Crashbook #25. Reviews give the impression it’s not a long game and not a huge departure from the original.

Windows | Steam Link | Released Jun 2026

627/ Penguin Colony

Cosmic horror, through the eyes of a penguin. Rival human factions have come to your home in the Antarctic, seeking an ancient and inconceivable being. Observe their descent into insanity in this faithful re-imagining of H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness, and other stories.

Crash notes: More Crashbook crack for you.

Windows | Steam Link | Unreleased

628/ Moonbrella

A 2D platformer Metroidvania with deep movement and no jump button. Upgrade your umbrella to explore an abandoned planet and ascend to the moon.

Crash notes: Crisp style, even if I’m not entirely in love with the appearance of the protagonist.

Windows, Mac, Linux | Steam Link | Unreleased

629/ ExeKiller

You’re an ExeKiller, a licensed bounty hunter tracking fugitives across the ruins of New York and extracting the S.O.U.L. biochips from their skulls. Investigate, negotiate, hack, fight, and decide how each contract ends in a first-person retro-futuristic cyber-western.

Crash notes: I was surprised this is pronounced like “execular”. They say in the gameplay overview that it doesn’t hold your hand. Those are typically ‘famous last words’ so HMM WE WILL SEE.

Windows | Steam Link | Unreleased

630/ The Incident at Galley House

In 1936, something terrible happened at Galley House. Decades later, with a strange contraption that reveals echoes of the past, you must uncover the truth behind this grisly mystery. A new puzzle from the creators of The Roottrees are Dead.

Windows, Mac, Linux | Steam Link | Released Jul 2026

631/ Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library!

Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library! is a single-player simulation. You need return scattered books to proper places in an Arcane Library. As completed rows of bookshelves, you can learn ability to improve your efficiency. Use your skills and strategies to shelve 3,072 books as quick as you can.

Crash notes: There’s something both wonderful and terrifying about this. Putting away books is a wonderfully wholesome idea for a game, but having seen LP videos, I can’t quite believe how the astronomical number of books we’re talking about. And you get “upgrades” to speed up some of the busywork… but I thought we were here for the busywork?

Windows | Steam Link | Released Apr 2026

632/ Trading Card Inspector

Inspect your way through dozens of unique, hilarious cards in this chilled-out papers-please-em-up! Identify and appraise cards from The World’s Most Coolest TCG! Start your new job as an official Habubis Trading Card Inspector and uncover a tale of friendship, corporate espionage and murder?!

Crash notes: I liked the design of Papers Please but never felt the mechanics aligned as well as I had hoped with the theme. Perhaps this tongue-in-cheek riff on the idea would suit me better.

Windows, Mac | Steam Link | Released Jun 2026

633/ Eufloria 2

Eufloria 2 is the sequel to 2009’s indie hit “Eufloria”, featuring major gameplay additions and innovations, and a powerful level editor. Intergalactic floral conquest has EVOLVED to the next level!

Crash notes: I played a lot of Eufloria (née Dyson) back in the day although I was a terrible player, relying entirely on swarming the AI instead of finding the right bug build to tackle the various bug enemies.

Windows | Steam Link | Unreleased

634/ Atmospheric Labyrinth

Search for unusual events inside a labyrinth of usual rooms. Walk through it, and see daily life differently.

Crash notes: This is another one where it’s deliberately difficult to ascertain what the game entails. “It offers almost no hints…”

636/ Theropods

Outsmart hungry dinosaurs and bloodthirsty barbarians in a wordless point-and-click adventure through a prehistoric world, with a sci-fi twist. Handcrafted with love, down to the last pixel.

Run around with friends, lure enemies into opponents, make the ultimate sacrifice for teammates, and hunt each other with rockets. Couch-ready/Tournament-worthy.

Crash notes: Just when you thought the n saga was done, they pull you back in. Although it offers single player, this revisit to our plucky little ninja who dies a zillion times offers online multiplayer for the first time. I will put my hand up in saying I am not keen on the mouthful of a name. It’s the smallest of negative concessions, though.

Windows, Linux | Steam Link | Unreleased

638/ Sarco

Sarco is a first-person horror game built around constant tension instead of jump scares. Maintain visual contact with the sarcophagus to keep it closed and the primordial being contained. But beware: it will adapt. Explore an abandoned complex and find a way to stop the being before it breaks free.

Crash notes: Another one with no jump scares – we really need this to be a Steam tag.

Windows | Steam Link | Unreleased

639/ Hexzen

A hexagonal logic puzzle game set against shifting skies. Use logic alone to read the clues and clear each board. Master a handcrafted campaign, enjoy infinite custom puzzles, and shape your own challenges with the built-in level editor.

Crash notes: This was described to me as “the solver gets to destroy whatever it cannot reason its way through” but I don’t fully understand what that means plus it doesn’t seem to be a listed feature on the Steam page.

Windows, Mac, Linux | Steam Link | Unreleased

640/ Avante! Atlantis

Lead the world’s greatest Strategists through a virtual war. Decide how humanity will approach the mysterious island of Atlantis.

Crash notes: No idea how this plays in practice, but the cardboard style popup is cute.

Windows, Linux | Steam Link | Unreleased

641/ Beat Weaver

3D multi-track rhythm action with space-time bending mechanics that reward your style as much as your precision. Hit notes and switch tracks to add instruments to the mix. Become a remix machine, enter the flow state and uniquely approach each song of a highly replayable, genre-defying soundtrack.

Crash notes: Really swish looking. For the record I am absolute 100% sucky at these games, although I sweated blood to get through Quadrant. Demo out now.

Windows | Steam Link | Unreleased

642/ The Final Cut of Lilith Cunningham

Regret has chased Lilith across the years… but a chance to escape is within reach. Drawn in by a message from your estranged daughter, you must reshape reality with a mystical Film Reel to solve a mass vanishing. To erase your guilt, you’ll decide what… and who… to leave on the cutting room floor.

Windows | Steam Link | Unreleased

644/ The House Before

You wake up as a House. Your bones are pipes and tunnels. Your organs are a labyrinth of caves. The House Before is a narrative body horror adventure where you play as a monstrous structure filled with strange creatures.

Windows | Steam Link | Just released

  1. I’ll share on social media in a couple of days. Sorry this is a big, chunky Crashbook chapter – but that’s just because I haven’t done one in a while.
